My name is Steven Bogus, and I am currently pursuing my Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science with an emphasis on Cyber Security at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. I hold an AAS degree in Cyber Security from Pikes Peak State College, along with CCNA Security and CompTIA A+ certifications. I'm currently studying to get the CompTIA Security+ and CySA+ certifications.
I decided I wanted to enter the career field of IT and cyber security at a young age. My father has been in the profession for most of my life, which always fascinated me. I could understand how to navigate Windows, and when I was 6, I reinstalled Windows on my own for the first time. When I was a little older, I would occasionally go with my father to his work. While he worked, I would dissemble old hardware he had lying around his workshop. I would then, without help, take apart old machines, switch around the parts, and rebuild a new machine. As the years passed, I was always savvy with hardware and operating systems, building my PC without tutorial 3 times before I decided to help others. It wasn't until high school that my interests would evolve when I chose to dual-enroll in a cyber security program at my local college. At first, the help desk stuff was easy and familiar. However, it quickly evolved into more advanced coursework that had me hooked. As I learned about the cyber security field, a lot of it clicked with me, and I instantly knew this was what I wanted to do.
